WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 EVENING PROGRAM MEETING at 7:00PM:
"Bicknell's Thrush: Conserving a Bird of Two Worlds"
Speaker: Chris Rimmer
The Bicknell’s Thrush is one of North America’s most rare and vulnerable songbirds. Since 1992, Vermont Center for Ecostudies (VCE) Director Chris Rimmer has led efforts to conserve the species and the habitats on which it depends.
Come see an illustrated presentation on conservation efforts for this fascinating songbird. Program is sponsored by the Wells Reserve - $5 donation suggested.

"Getting To Know Raptors"
Speaker: Eric Hynes
Eric has wonderful photos of birds of prey from Idaho to Maine. He will captivate us with the familiar, broaden our knowledge of raptor biology and ecology, and share tips for the identification of birds of prey that we see in this area.

"African Avifauna"
Speaker: Vin Lawrence
Vin, who organizes and leads wildlife safaris, will narrate a sampling of slides of African birds taken during safaris spanning nearly 25 years, primarily in Kenya and Tanzania, but including Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

July 11 Field Trip: Odes to Joy 10:00am to 12:00noon.
Sue Bickford, leader. Meet at the York Land Trust office for a short presentation on dragonflies and damselflies. We will then drive to a York Land Trust property to study these insects. Take I-95 to the York exit. Then go south on Rte. 1 to the YLT office at 449 Rte. 1 across from Hannaford’s. Office is in the corner of the parking lot.
July 15 Field Trip: Puffins from New Harbor.
Please sign up with Joanne Stevens (883-6475) for this trip. The boat departs from New Harbor at 5:30pm for a 1 1/2 hour cruise to view puffins and other sea birds on Eastern Egg Rock. There is a cost associated with this trip!
August 22 Field Trip: Shorebird Walk on Hills Beach Rd. 7:00am.
Judy Camuso, leader. Meet at Bufflehead’s Restaurant. Head south on Rt. 9 from Biddeford, turn left into the UNE campus on Old Pool Rd., then bear left at the junction of this road and Hills Beach Rd. Go about 1/2 mile to Buffleheads on the right. Local contact: Pat Moynahan (284-5487).
September 12 Field Trip: Plum Island 8:00am.
