SUMMARY: November 21st - A Bird Walk at Seapoint Beach in Kittery -
DESCRIPTION:Snow Bunting – photo by Bill Grabin \nJoin us on at 8 a.m. on Saturday\, November 21st\, for our monthly walk at a lovely birding spot.  Seapoint Beach in Kittery tends to be birded less frequently than its more famous neighbor\, Fort Foster\, but it can be very productive and has attracted its fair share of rarities. It’s an excellent spot for seasonal birds and offers multiple habitats\, including beach\, marsh\, and coastal scrub and woodland.  Even apart from the birds\, it’s simply a beautiful\, scenic stretch of coastline that’s very enjoyable to walk. \nLapland Longspur at Seapoint Beach – photo by Britney Fox\nWe’ll start by exploring the road down to the beach\, which can be full of sparrows and other woodland birds. The lower parking lot (resident parking) is often birdy too. Seapoint accumulates a lot of wrack along the beach\, which is great for pipits\, snow buntings\, horned larks\, sparrows\, warblers\, and shorebirds. The marsh behind the beach can host ducks\, wading birds\, and raptors. Seapoint is also a great place to sea watch\, so we’ll scan the ocean for ducks\, cormorants\, loons\, grebes\, and gulls. If time allows\, we’ll continue on to Crescent Beach and the Point\, both of which are worth checking for birds. \nWhite-rumped Sandpiper at Seapoint Beach – photo by Britney Fox\nPlease wear sturdy\, waterproof footwear and dress in layers\, as the beach can be exposed and windy. The footing on the road and beach is fairly easy\, but the terrain at Crescent Beach is rocky. The trails on the point are packed dirt. \nParking: Public parking is available in the lots along Seapoint Rd. Non-resident parking is in the first lot on the right and is clearly marked. Please do not park in resident parking unless you have a Kittery dump sticker. \nRestrooms: There are no public restrooms at this location. Facilities are available at the Cutts Island trailhead\, just down the road. \nThis walk is provided at no charge and all are welcome! \n
